Mrs. Robin Faust and Ms. Linda Sloane

We began team teaching in 1993 when we launched a K,1,2 multi-age class.  After a reconfiguration of grades at Kellogg in 2007, we began co-teaching a first and second grade multi-age class.

As teachers of the first and second graders we believe in a child-centered curriculum and classroom where the needs of the children are the central focus of our concerns. We work to meet the cognitive, social and emotional needs of the primary aged child within the context of the CT Common Core Standards.  These standards are rigorous.  However, due to the combination of grade levels, we are better able to support the children in growing and developing skills commensurate with their developmental levels.  A rich and stimulating classroom environment helps to create opportunities for a variety of developmentally appropriate, interactive hands-on experiences.  With on-going opportunities for rich social interaction, an atmosphere is created where skills of independence, responsibility and cooperation are nurtured.  We believe that our overall mission is to provide children with a positive, stimulating and nurturing early school experience, one that will encourage them to become life long learners.
