Mr. Mark Fogel

Students at Lee H. Kellogg School begin taking Spanish in 3rd grade and continue into 4th grade. Students will be learning how to greet each other in Spanish, learn numbers, days of the week and much much more!

5th graders utilize the Viva el espanol  textbook series and begin with Hola the first book in the series. Throughout the Viva el espanol  program, communication and inductive learning are stressed. The series attempts to parallel the manner in which children learn their first language in the home.

5th grade students learn to talk about classroom experiences, animals and colors, going places, things they like to do, and much, much more.

6th grade students begin the year learning about the seasons and how to talk about different kinds of weather. They learn the months of the year and how to talk about how they are feeling. Students also learn to tell time in Spanish, talk about their favorite classes, talk about their families and learn about families in Spanish-speaking countries.

7th and 8th grade students utilize the Realidades textbook and they can earn high school credit for successfully completing this "two year" course. Realidades is based on the belief that the purpose of learning Spanish is to communicate with people who speak Spanish and to understand their culture.
