Announcement of the Details of the Lee H. Kellogg School Principal Search

 

The Canaan (Falls Village) Board of Education has announced the details of the search to be conducted for the principalship of Lee H. Kellogg School.  The details are as follows:

There will be a search committee of nine people.  The committee will include two certified staff members, one non-certified staff member, one representative from the school’s parent group FOLKS (Friends of Lee Kellogg School), one community member-at-large, one elected official and three Board of Education members.  The Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Director of Special Education of Regional School District No One will also be a part of the process.  In addition, an electronic community survey will be conducted.  It will ask our staff, parents and all citizens, who wish, to respond to pertinent questions regarding the position and to rank the most important characteristics of leadership. 

The schedule is as follows:

  1. Posting of the principalship by March 9, 2018
  2. Posting of the link for the “Community Survey” by

      March 13, 2018

  3. Submission of applications by March 30, 2018
  4. Search Committee review of applications from April 3, 2018

       through April 9, 2018

  5. Search Committee meeting on April 10, 2018 to discuss applications

       and narrow the applicants for the first round of interviews

  6. First round of applicant interviews to be conducted by the Search

   Committee to be held on April 24, 2018

  1. Final round of applicant interviews to be conducted by the full

   membership of the Canaan (Falls Village) Board of Education

   on May 1, 2018

  1. Announcement of the selection of the principal sometime after the

         May 1, 2018 Board of Education meeting

Anyone in the community interested in serving as the community at-large member on the Principal Search Committee should contact Patricia Mechare, Chairman of the Canaan (Falls Village) Board of Education at curtmechare@comcast.net.  Interested persons should provide a brief written summary indicating the reasons for his/her interest in serving on the Committee and be available on the dates noted above. Such contact should be made no later than March 23, 2018.
